Position: Child Care Officer

Responsible to: Team Leader

Hours: To Be Discussed

 

 

Duties:

 

To work and act within the guidelines of the Management Team and Company Policies.

 

To Undertake Sleep-in duties as part of a Rota system and be flexible in- order to cover sickness and holidays.

 

To Complete CWDC Introduction within 3 months of employment and to complete Level 3 Diploma in Children’s & Young Peoples workforce within 18 months.

 

To provide basic care and nurturing for the young people ensuring individual care plans are adhered to. To ensure young people's education plans are adhered to. To maintain the day-to-day running of the home.

 

The completion of domestic duties and the upkeep of the property and garden as required. The completion of all records and paperwork as detailed in the Company Documentation.

 

To ensure timetables and appointments are kept to.

 

To plan and implement activities for the young people.

 

To liaise with professionals, family and friends as appropriate. To act under the supervision of the Management Team.

 

To ensure that all incidents are adequately reported to Management Team and any member of staff taking over shift.

 

To demonstrate professional and calm behaviour across a variety of situations.

 

To attend All Company training and staff meetings.

 

 

Skills and knowledge (Essential)

 

The ability to form positive relationships with children and young people.

 

To understand the needs of young people in care.

 

The ability to deal with difficult situations and make decisions effectively.

  

Good communication skills both oral and written.

 

Good interpersonal skills.

 

The ability to work as part of a team.

 

The ability to be flexible.

 

Reporting and recording to a professional standard.

 

 

Skills and knowledge (Desirable)

 

Knowledge of the National Minimum Care Standards.

 

Knowledge of the Children Act 1989.

 

Work of other agencies involved with children in public care.

 

 

Experience (Desirable)

 

 

Previous experience of work with children and young people who display emotional and Behavioral difficulties.

 

Work in partner with families.

 

 

Qualifications & Achievements (Essential)

 

Diploma Level 3 (Commitment to obtain this qualification is essential).

 

A willingness to participate in all in house training.

 

 

Qualifications & Achievements (Desirable)

 

Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.

 

Full Driving License.
